iPod User Survey

About two weeks ago, I wrote an entry about iPod sex appeal and promised to post up an iPod user survey. After 2 weeks, I finally got around to coming up a few questions to support my mini-study.

How old are you?
How many hours per day/week do you use your iPod?
Where do you use your iPod often (home, work, out and about, etc)?
Approximately how many tracks do you have on your iPod?
Do you listen to download and listen to podcasts on your iPod? If so, which ones?
What do you like/dislike about your iPod?
What factors caused you to purchase an iPod?
What accessories do you own/plan to purchase for your iPod?
What features of your iPod do you use (ie, Disk Mode, Photo Storage, Contacts, etc)?
If there was one aspect of your iPod you could improve, which would it be, and how would you improve it?

I will keep this open for the next 2-3 weeks or until submissions stop coming in, and then collect all the data and present it back to all of you. You may ask why I’m doing all of this. I’m curious to find out what other iPod users think about their iPod, how they use it, and other usage habits. Of course, none of this data will be sold to marketing companies and you won’t be spammed, because I’m a nice guy like that.

If you would like to participate in this study, feel free to post a comment with the answers to the questions, or contact me directly if you wish to remain anonymous.

    Yay! A meme!

    >>How old are you?
    I’m 42 this year.

    >>How many hours per day/week do you use your iPod?
    Approximately 4 hours a day.

    >>Where do you use your iPod often (home, work, out and about, etc)?
40 min subway ride each way to work.
2-3 hours at work (with interruptions).
30 min in the gym, every second day.

    >>Approximately how many tracks do you have on your iPod?
    It’s a 3rd Gen 15G iPod. But I only use 8G, so 1908 songs

    >>Do you listen to download and listen to podcasts on your iPod? If so, which ones?
Nope. I never got into them.

    >>What do you like/dislike about your iPod?
It’s old! Seriously, the headphones. I have weird ears and the in-the-ear phones don’t stay in. I use Altec Lansing PSP wrap-arounds.

    >>What factors caused you to purchase an iPod?
The Cool Factor. The Wow Factor. The hard drive size.

    >>What accessories do you own/plan to purchase for your iPod?
iSkin orange glow in the dark rubber protector. Portable speakers (cheapo ones), iTrip FM transmitter (sucks for 3G iPod!). Will not buy any new accessories for this particular iPod.

    >>What features of your iPod do you use (ie, Disk Mode, Photo Storage, Contacts, etc)?
I read Cory Doctorow’s “Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town” in TXT file format. That’s it other than music.

    >>If there was one aspect of your iPod you could improve, which would it be, and how would you improve it?
It’s old! The battery life. The colour screen. Pretty much everything they’ve addressed so far, except screen size, but the iPhone seems to have kyboshed that too.
